"Wow look at that Pokemon!"

School laptops. This has been the topic of discussion among DCHS administrators for quite some time.

I remember when I was a freshman and was first handed my laptop I cared for that thing like a mother cares for a newborn. It never left my side and it was essentially my life for about 3 years. Now that I'm a senior I couldn't care less about this thing. Sure it is helpful to get on facebook and stuff on but if I would still be able to access that without this laptop.

They issued everyone laptops and claimed they would improve student learning and all other things. That is pretty much the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Handing a 14 year old a laptop and telling them not to get on games or other distractions is like giving a mouse to George and expecting him not to kill it.

I've used the laptop for 4 years now and I can say having this laptop has probably been the biggest block on my learning ever. I would come home everynight and kill countless hours doing pointless tasks and not doing my homework. I made it my task to become a master at fooling teachers and parents I was doing what I was actually supposed to be.

I think the laptops should only be given to Honor's students. This way the school will know they are giving laptops to students who care some what about their grades and maybe they won't procrastinate as much. I think the way the laptop program is now is a complete waste of time and money.

I work in the help desk so I have personally seen and heard about all the stupid crap kids have done to their laptops. At age 14 some students simply don't have the maturity to handle a machine of that magnitude.
